2. Six in the Second Place

   Line text: The wild goose gradually advances to the rock. Eating and drinking in peace and contentment. Good fortune.

   One has gained a firm footing, and the foundation is gradually taking shape. Food and clothing are sufficient, and there is harmony within and without. This is the most stable and auspicious stage in the process of gradual progress.

3. Nine in the Third Place

   Line text: The wild goose gradually advances to the highland. The husband goes forth and does not return; the wife conceives but does not give birth. Misfortune. It is beneficial to resist robbers.

   Advance and retreat have lost their proper order, and one has become separated from the group, making misfortune likely. Only by holding fast to what is right, protecting oneself, and working together in unity can one resist external threats.

4. Six in the Fourth Place

   Line text: The wild goose gradually advances to the tree. Perhaps it finds a flat branch. No blame.

   One occupies a high position but is not yet secure, only temporarily finding a place to rest. If one can remain humble and yielding, without overstepping proper bounds, disaster and blame can be avoided.

5. Nine in the Fifth Place

   Line text: The wild goose gradually advances to the hill. The wife does not conceive for three years, but in the end nothing can prevent it. Good fortune.

   One dwells in the center and holds to what is right. Though obstructed for a time, one will ultimately fulfill one’s aim. Persist in the proper way: evil cannot prevail, and good fortune comes in the end.

6. Top Nine

   Line text: The wild goose gradually advances to the highland. Its feathers can be used for the sacred dance. Good fortune.

   Gradual progress reaches completion, and merit and virtue take form, like goose feathers fit for ritual use. This shows that once order has been established, it must not be thrown into disorder again; this is auspicious and enduring.
