Gui Water Chapter · Di Tian Sui and Fate Analysis
1. Original Di Tian Sui Text
Gui Water is at its extreme weakness, reaching Tianjin. When it encounters a dragon and moves, its power transforms into this divine form.
It does not fear Fire and Earth, regardless of Geng or Xin. When joined with Wu, meeting Fire, the transformation is true.
2. Original Annotations
原注:Gui Water is the purest of Yin and thus extremely weak; hence Fusang has weak water.
Reaching Tianjin, it moves with Heaven; obtaining the dragon to form clouds and rain, it can moisten all things, and its power transforms into this spirit.
Whenever Jia or Yi appear in the pillar in Yin or Mao, they can move water qi, generate wood to restrain fire, moisten earth and nourish metal, establishing a noble pattern; even if Fire and Earth are abundant, they are not feared. As for Geng metal, it neither relies on its generation nor fears its excess.
It is only when Wu Earth combines to transform into Fire; Wu gives birth to Yin, Gui gives birth to Mao, both belonging to the East, thus able to generate Fire.
It is also said: at the extreme of Wu Earth lies the end of Gui Water, where the sun rises; hence it transforms into Fire.
Whenever Wu and Gui have Bing and Ding exposed, irrespective of strength or weakness, in autumn and winter they can all transform into Fire; this is the truest.
3. Ren's Yi Book Commentary
Ren's Yi Book: Gui Water is not called rain and dew; it is pure Yin water.
Although its origin is long, its nature is extremely weak, its momentum is the calmest, capable of moistening soil and nourishing metal, fostering all things, gaining the dragon and moving, its changes are unfathomable.
The so-called meeting the dragon yields transforms; the dragon is Chen. Those who gain Chen and transform reveal the original spirit of transformation.
Whenever any of the ten heavenly stems encounters the Chen position, the stem must be fully exposed to the transformation of the deity; this is an undeniable principle.
Those who do not worry about Fire and Earth, whose nature is extremely weak, when Fire and Earth are abundant will follow the transformation;
As for Geng and Xin, weak water cannot drain metal qi; hence too much metal becomes turbidity; Gui Water is that.
When Wu meets Fire, Yin yields to Yang. Wu Earth is dry and thick; if Bing or Ding fire is revealed in the pillar, it triggers the transformation, which is true.
If in autumn or winter Metal and Water prosper, even if the branch encounters Chen Dragon, and Bing and Ding are fully exposed, transformation is difficult; this should be examined in detail.
4. Modern Fate Analysis
Gui Water is a pure Yin water, its nature extremely weak and very quiet, symbolizing water of rain, dew, mist, and moisture.
Not by momentum, but by transformation, nourishment, and latent transformation is valuable.
Gui Water is extremely weak, reaching Tianjin: Weak yet able to reach the heavens; not by force but by conforming to the timing of Heaven; when conditions are favorable it transforms, when not, it hides.
Gaining the Dragon and Moving: Chen is the reservoir and the place of transforming the deity; Gui Water can initiate change only when it obtains Chen, transforming clouds and rain; its function becomes evident.
Not to fear Fire and Earth, regardless of Geng and Xin: Gui Water is extremely weak; when Fire and Earth are abundant it follows transformation; too much Metal becomes turbidity, not by dissipating Metal.
Converging Wu with Fire yields true transformation: When Wu and Gui unite and Bing and Ding are exposed, Yin yields to Yang; water transforms into fire; this is Gui Water's truest transformed state.
Overall, the Way of Gui Water is not in forcing, but in timing, position, and guidance; one transformation and it becomes divine.
